Morning Prayer, Tuesday, May 7, 2024 - WORD(S) OF THE DAY:  DROWN OUT THE CHATTER

Father God, please give me a discerning ear to hear You above all the chatter that is around me each day.  Amen

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.”   (Psalm 32:8)

“The stronger God's presence is in my life, the clearer the voice of God is. The farther away that God is - the hard it is for me to hear His voice. Every day in so many ways, God does speak to His children.”  We have so many voices in our ear on a daily basis.  There are family, friends, co-workers, church friends, neighbors, and strangers in line at the mall just sharing chit-chat while you wait.  Yes, these voices are all around us.  I did miss one though, the voice of God.  That is the most important one of all.  The problem we sometimes have is we are so busy listening to everybody else; we miss God.  He is always trying to lead and guide us away from bad and into good.  Oh, wait a minute.  There is one more I failed to mention on that first long list, the devil.  He will at all costs try to get his opinion in during our day-to-day.  We have to be careful when listening to all the chatter around us that we don't get caught up and follow the wrong voice.  Pray for discernment to hear God over everything and everyone.  It will make a great difference in paths we take and the decisions we make in this life.  Peace will reign, fear will be lessened, and you will find yourself on the right track more than the wrong.  There is nothing wrong with listening to the chatter around you just know which is in your best interest and which is not.  We have to be more like Samuel when he kept hearing a voice calling him in the middle of the night.  Samuel was thinking it was the prophet Eli but turns out, it was the voice of God.  Some of the chatter we hear will sound right for our situation, but make sure that the final decision you make is in line with God’s will.
